The Anti-Tear Out feature that was introduced after the initial launch of the Voyager drill press and updated into current

production of the software. The ATO feature was added as an advance feature to reduce the amount of "tear out" at the exit

hole of any work piece that is being drilled. Tear out which is sometimes known as "blow out" for wood or "exit burr" will sometimes occur at the exit hole of a workpiece when the hole and surrounding area is unsupported, and the drill bit 'drags' some material out at the very end. To try and reduce tear out, we have implemented the Anti Tear Out feature. There are 4 settings for this function: AntiTO: Enable or Disable the feature Depth: This is the distance BEFORE the "Set Depth". There are 3 options in metric which is "SET - 1mm", "SET - 2.5mm" and "SET - 5mm". This option would be dependent the user setting up a target depth as well as having this feature enabled to work. Once the ATO depth has been reached it will change the speed until the "Set Depth" have been reached. End Speed: This will be the % change for the speed. The options are 50% / 80% / 120% / 150% / 200%. Max Speed: This is the maximum speed for the machine, the anti-tear out function cannot exceed the maximum speed. So for example: If the Anti Tear Out function is ENABLED, with a Depth option set to "SET - 5mm", and the End Speed is set to 200%. The user Set Depth on the main screen is also set to 50mm. When drilling, the machine will drill as per normal until 5mm before the Set Depth. Once the 5mm before the Set Depth has been reached, the machine will automatically double the the speed (because the setting is 200%) until the Set Depth has been reached. While this function reduces tear out slightly, it is still recommended to use a backing piece (or some tape) to also help reduce the tear out
