DVR XP/2024 INDEX MECHANISM LOOSE/RATTLING NOISE IN HEADSTOCK
Remove the handwheel, if you are using it. It is left hand threaded so turn clockwise to remove it. You may have a problem in that the index is not functioning, in which case, put a chuck with jaws or a face plate on the spindle, and fasten a length of wood like a 1 x 2 so it is longer than the swing, and brace the other end against the bed to use as leverage.
Remove the 8 screws in the sheet metal plate and set it aside. This is what the index wheel and electronics look like when the plate is removed.
CONTROL BOARD AND INDEX WHEEL
You will probably find index lock pin assembly loose and the M16 nut either loose or missing. You may need a flashlight and a magnetic retriever, as it is probably rolling around beside the control board heat sink.
