This FAQ will cover all errors which appear on existing DVR machines (including Lathes, Drill Press and Package Drive Motor kit).
Note: Not all machines will contain all error codes.

Error Code | Description / More Info |
MCB not connected Entering USB Mode | MCB stands for Motor Control Board (or Main Control Board). This error occurs when the HMI user control panel cannot communicate with the control board. Possible causes are:
|
Brakes Enabled Secure Set Screw to avoid Injury | The start up warning when the Braking function is ENABLED. This is a reminder to use the set screw on the chuck/insert to prevent the workpiece from unwinding from the machine. To clear the warning, press any key except the OFF button
|
Factory Reset Turn Power OFF | The factory reset has been activated and settings are restored to the default. Please turn OFF the main power switch on the machine and let the machine discharge for 5mins before powering back on.
|
Excessive Vibrations Detected | Some DVR machines are equipped with a vibration sensor. When the error appears, it means that the vibration detected is above the threshold set. To clear the warning, press any key except the OFF button To DISABLE the vibration sensor, enter the settings menu and set the “Vibration Sensor” to OFF
|
Load Spike Detected | The Voyager drill press has a load sensor which can monitor the load on the motor. The load spike detection can be used to detect sudden increases in load when drilling. The spike threshold checks the Load (%) change as the drill is running.
To clear the warning, press any key except the OFF button To change the load detection threshold, enter the Configuration > Drill Settings > Load Sensor and set the “Spike Threshold” To DISABLE the load spike sensor, enter the Configuration > Drill Settings > Load Sensor and set the “Spike Detect” to OFF
|
Idle Motor Detected | Newer DVR Lathes include an idle sensor, which can automatically turn off the motor when no cutting has been detected. This feature can be used to turn off the machine when it has been accidently left running while the user is away. To clear the warning, press any key except the OFF button To DISABLE the idle motor detection, enter the Menu > Lathe Settings and set the “Idle=AutoStop” to OFF
|
Low Voltage | Low voltage warning occurs when power is lost on the Motor Control Board. Possible cause are:
|
RPS Error 1 Rotor Position Sensor | The RPS (Rotor Position Sensor) provides feedback to the MCB to control the speed and power of the machine. A faulty sensor may lead to the motor not running correctly. RPS Error 1 indicates one or more of the 3 position sensors incorrectly reporting output “1”. Possible causes are:
|
RPS Error 0 Rotor Position Sensor | The RPS (Rotor Position Sensor) provides feedback to the MCB to control the speed and power of the machine. A faulty sensor may lead to the motor not running correctly. RPS Error 1 indicates one or more of the 3 position sensors incorrectly reporting output “0”. Possible causes are:
|
EEPROM DATA FLT EEPROM DATA CLR | These effort occur briefly on some older DVR machines (typically DVR XP, 3000, and 2024) after a factory reset. This is normal after behaviour a factory reset. |
Hardware Fault | Hardware fault occurs when components on the Motor Control Board report a fault code. If the control board is repeatedly showing this error, the Motor Control Board (MCB) may need to be serviced or replaced. |
SRM not Rotate | This error occurs when the control board is not able to turn on the motor. Possible cause are:
|
Invent. Overheat | There is an overheating issue possibly with the Motor Control Board. May require servicing |
PFC Fault | There is an error in the PFC power circuit. May require servicing |
Unexpected Fault | Miscellaneous error codes. |
Unexpected Trap |
DVR 750w 1HP motor
Including:
- Nova Viking Drill Press
- Striatech 750w 1HP Package drive
Due to the limited display ability of the 7 segment display, the error message will be displayed followed by a number.
Error Code | Description | More Info |
01
| Over Voltage | Over voltage detected and operations have stopped to protect the Main Control Board. |
02
| Over Current | Over current detected and operations have stopped to protect the Main Control Board. |
03
| Motor running too fast | The motor may be running too fast due to software or external issues. Please check firmware. |
04
| Motor not starting | The motor is not able to start. Please check the motor 6 pin connector. Release any locking pin or spindle lock for the machine. |
05
| Rotor Position Error | An error has occurred relating to the RPS sensor. Please clean any dust or obstruction on the RPS sensor. Check that the RPS cable connector is correctly plugged in. RPS Sensor may need to be replaced. |
06
| Motor too hot | The motor may be overheating or running too hot. Please check motor. |
07
| Main Control Board too hot |
The Motor Control Board may be overheating and may require servicing or repairs. |
