How to clean or replace the RPS sensor for Nova Viking drill press
Tools Needed:
- Philips screwdriver
- Circlip pliers
- Cleaning alocohol and cotton swab
1 | Unplug the machine.
Undo the 4 screws on the motor end cover and remove the cover. |

2 | Remove the circlip and the plastic fan from the top of the motor |

3 | Using a philips screwdriver, undo the 2 screws for the sheetmetal cover for the sensor |
4 | The sensor can be removed by undoing 2 more scews |
5 | The sensor can be removed.
To clean the sensor, use a cotton swab and some cleaning alcohol to clean the gap between each of the three black U shaped sensors.
Put the sensor back after cleaning to test if the error is cleared. If the error still persists, replace the RPS sensor.

6 | Perform the steps in reverse to reassemble the machine. You can test the operation of the drill before putting the plastic fan back and end cover back onto the machine. |
7 | NOTE:
If the sensor connector is too short, you can loosen the sensor cable gland and push the cable in towards the sensors. A short cable may cause some pins to note connect properly. |
