Adjusting the tool rest holding power

I am having a heck of a time getting my 2024 tool rest so that I can move it easily, but still get strong holding power. If I tighten the Allen screw that holds the plate onto the locking rod all the way, I can't get the tool rest on the lathe. If I loosen the screw, I can eventually get it on, but it is a crap shoot, and then it quickly loosens up again. I'd appreciate any help!

I have had the same problem. There is an Allen set screw that holds the Allen Tension Adjusting screw and it kept coming loose so the tension would change. I finally got the tension screw set where I want it and put blue lock-tight on the Allen set screw and it has been holding for about four months. Fingers crossed.
